|South Lakeland Lace Makers|
Welcome to South Lakeland
The South Lakeland Lace Makers are a group of lace makers and tatters who meet monthly in South Cumbria. There are over 50 members who have different levels of experience and make a variety of types of lace.
We gather on the third Saturday of each month at Lane Farm, Westmorland County Showground, Crooklands, near Kendal, Cumbria, LA7 7NH. This venue is just off the M6 so we have members from a wide area. We meet from 10.00 until 15.30. We have a programme of speakers and demonstrators, workshops, trips to lace days and regular lace sales. Tea and coffee is provided but members bring their own lunches.
New members are always welcome from complete beginners to advanced lace makers. Please see our Events Calendar for the year's programme. Feel free to just come and meet us or use the Contact Us page on this site for further information.

"The Golden Bobbin" Galleon
finds a new home...
The galleon, which has had a home at various venues, came into port in February at the Helena Thompson Museum in Workington. It will reside in their new Maritime section.
It was made by the lace group in 1987/88 originally for the John Bull competition and won first prize. Since then it has travelled and been displayed at various locations such as Kirkby Lonsdale Library and Farfield Mill.
The Helena Thompson Museum is a wonderful setting and has many other lace exhibitions as well as displaying the town's heritage in coal and iron.
The museum is well worth a visit!
